UCRCS Club Members......we had great results from our efforts at the recent UCRA Airshow.  Both with our Drink Booth and the Club's Promotional Tent.  Many thanks to everyone that came out that day and helped support the Club.

As promised, I plan to reimburse anyone that paid admission to the event and helped the Club that day.  I've had a number of folks just donate their part back to the Club but I want to reimburse anyone that would like it.  Just send me a quick e-mail Doug Graves or give me a call (265-6272) and I'll make the necessary arrangements.

I'm happy to report that UCRCS's participation in the UCRA 9/22/2007 Airshow was a great success.  Both in spreading the word about the Hobby & our Club as well as the financial rewards from our Drink Booth.

First off, I want to thank all the Club Members that came out to support the Club.  The Static Display was a huge hit and we passed out a number of Club Brochures and answered lots of questions from the crowd.  Steve Mullis did a fantastic job with his demo flight while Buddy Qualls provided information about RC'ing and our Club for the Crowd.  Ron Serafin assited Steve during the demo flight.

Then there was the Drink Booth.  After a little negotiating to obtain a better location, we got off to a great start and things only got busier as the day went by.  Many thx's to all the volunteers and especially those that had to get hot & sweaty in the heat of the day!!!  Del Hef and his sister (Sue) pulled together the big banner and canopy we used.  Special thx's to Bob Mackie & Company (IWC) for getting the drinks on-site and refrigerated.  That coupled with ice avail on-site made for a pretty simple set-up and continued re-supply.   Now for the RESULTS.....we sold ton's of drinks.  We made some good money and that will greatly help the Club's Treasury.  I'll have the final details by our next Club meeting.

Hopefully this will become an annual event!  I really enjoyed it.
Best regards......Doug
August 6, 2007      re: Giant Scale Fly-In

UCRCS Club Members

I would like to THANK all of our club members who make such  an event as the Giant Scale Fly-In possible.  All the way from the people who showed up at the clean up day to all of the members that helped the day of the event.

We had 14 registered pilots which I think is pretty good considering our recent issue with the web site.  Hopefully everyone had a good time.

A special THANKS goes out to Chris of Cookeville Raceway & Hobbies, and Greg of G&L Hobbies who provided raffle prizes above the  amount that we gave them and even extra donations to the raffle.  I think that everyone enjoyed having both of them set up at our event.  As I mentioned Saturday, we are fortunate to have two independent hobby shops in our town, I don't know of but one in Nashville  and not aware of any in Knoxville.

We didn't have any real safety issues at the event, which was good.  Our neighbor did  tell Buddy how much she appreciated our being there, I guess it is good to get to know your neighbors.

Our next  club event that is open to the public is the electric fly-in on September 15 .  Bring out your electric planes and helicopters and lets have a good time.
